Google Chrome Extension to Speak and Search on the Internet

March 24, 2011
Voice Search is a Chrome extension which allows you to type search queries using your voice. Works quite simple -- install the extension, plug in the microphone, hit the extension icon and start speaking the keywords which you want to search. The extension will try to guess the words and then will search for the same in your preferred search engine. The extension is not limited to specific sites, you can always add your own search engines or a custom site specific search to the extension options.

Voice Search comes pre-loaded with the following default services: Google, Wikipedia, YouTube, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckGo and Wolfram|Alpha. You can also add your own user-defined search engines. It also integrates a speech input button for all websites using HTML5 search boxes, all of the default search engines’ websites, Facebook, Twitter, reddit, and GitHub.

Install it from here, and make sure you are on the beta build before you try it. Enjoy !
