U2opia Mobile, Singapore-based software application developer has introduced a new application, which will enable users to access social networking site Facebook on all handsets without any internet connection.
Co-Founder and CEO of U2Opia Mobile, Sumesh Menon commenting on the latest technology stated that were using the USSD technology, which allows users to access Facebook without GPRS on their mobile phones.
This app has been launched by U20pia in collaboration with Bharti Airtel. Over 150 million Airtel customers will be given the advantage to update their Facebook status with the help of USSD for free. They would need to pay a minimum amount of Re 1 per day to avail other features such as viewing news feeds, adding and finding friends, posting on friends walls and other such features on Facebook.
Interactivity is limited to status updates, "friend" requests and posting (text) on walls. The user is expected to have access to a PC for everything else.
